I caught updates this week involving the health of two former WWF stars from the 1980s: “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff and Kamala:
- In a podcast with The Score’s Aftermath Radio, Orndorff talked about his battle with cancer, which began in January 2011. “I’m still living. I’m still breathing,” Orndorff said, adding that the doctors have told him he is cancer-free, although the treatment has affected his voice.
- Kamala, whose real name is James Harris, fell on hard times last year when he had one of his legs amputated as a result of complications from diabetes. Harris was the subject of a story by Memphis news station WREG Channel 3, in which he discussed his life after wrestling and his current health. In all my years following wrestling, this was the first time I’ve ever heard Kamala talk.
I’m sure I speak for all of you by wishing both of these guys the best in the future. Orndorff was one of Hulk Hogan’s two best opponents (the other being Randy Savage), while Harris played one the most unique characters in WWE history.
