Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake, of all people, got mentioned on TMZ this week after Hulk Hogan’s ex-wife, Linda, claimed Beefcake and Hogan had a homosexual affair at one point.
Beefcake told TMZ that wasn’t true, and both he and Hogan have indicated they will sue Linda. Unless she has proof of the alleged gay love affair, I don’t see how she can defend her claim because it seems absurd.
This goes to show you once again that where Hogan treads, so does Beefcake. Brutus made a career out of trailing Hogan, as I believe both started out in Alabama in the late 1970s, and after Hogan won the WWF Title in 1984, Beefcake wasn’t far behind. They also wrestled together in WCW in the 1990s.
My friend, David, and I met Beefcake in Santa Monica, CA, while visiting some other buddies in 1995. Beefcake was a nice guy and seemed amused at David having seen him shop at an old Tower Records in Burlington, MA, that David used to work security at. For a while, Beefcake lived with his wife in Winchester, MA, just north of Boston (and he may still live there, I’m not sure).
The Brutus the Barber character seems like one that only the 1980s WWF wrestling scene could have produced.
